In the 80s and 90s, Galdoors earned its keep fitting garage doors in Newcastle. Nowadays it’s still family run, but as a record label currently operating out of Berlin.
Like plenty others, Galdoors owes a great deal to some of the matchless, frenzied parties Leeds has thrown up over the last 15 years or so, and owners, brothers and selectors Junes and Tames will continue to pay tribute to this scene in their monthly show. They’ll play the sort of house that’s become synonymous with the label – deep and stripped-back groovers, home-built acid and the like – as well as a bunch of other sounds that have influenced it: garage, dub and other dance business, plus anything else they think of. There’ll also be guest mixes from some of the elusive artists on the Galdoors roster, unreleased tracks and other stuff that you won’t hear anywhere else.
